U.S. ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF COMMERCE VISITS ESBAS

U.S. ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF COMMERCE VISITS ESBAS

Mr. Arun M. Kumar, Assistant Secretary of Commerce of the United States and Mr. Michael Lally, Counselor for Commercial Affairs at U.S. Embassy in Ankara visited  ESBAS CEO Dr. Faruk Guler on May 6.

Dr. Guler briefed the assistant secretary about the operations of the Aegean Free Zone and the American companies operating inside the Zone, to include Cummins, Kale Pratt & Whitney, Delphi Automotive, Delphi Packard, FTB Fastener and Tusas Motor companies.  Dr. Guler proceeded by informing and inviting Mr. Kumar to the conference “PERSPECTIVES ON TÜRKİYE-AMERICA-EUROPE IN A NEW ERA: Transatlantic Commercial and Investment Partnerships, Opportunities and Risks”, an event planned by ESBAS, Sept. 18-19, 2014. 

Mr. Kuman extended his appreciation and congratulations to ESBAS for organizing and hosting such an important international conference and said the commerce department  will promote and fully support this event. Dr. Guler and Kumar planned to attend a meeting in Washington about the strategic partnership between the U.S. and Türkiye and  agreed to meet for further talks to improve Turkish-American relations.  

Kumar left the Aegean Free Zone with positive impressions following a tour of the Kale Pratt & Whitney company, which is a US & Turkish investment.
