Space Camp Türkiye hosted a special two-day Outer Space Adventure program for nine hearing-impaired students from the Istanbul Tuzla Rotary Regional Foundation’s Elementary and Middle Schools for the Hearing Impaired, on March 07-09, 2014.

The “Space is Quiet for Everyone – We’re Going to Space” event, organized by the Istanbul Fenerbahce Rotary Club, involved the kids taking  part in many activities including riding astronaut simulators, exploring the  Mars surface, learning about constellations in StarLab and building rockets.

Chairman of Istanbul Fenerbahçe Rotary Club, Ilknur Turkeli Civelek and her husband Tonguc Civelek shared the excitement of the students by being close followers of the camp program. Ilknur Turkeli Civelek said ” we set out to remove all barriers and we wanted to develop projects that our hearing-impaired children could also take part in, like the other children. The fact that space is the quietest place in the universe, gave us the idea of coming to Space Camp Türkiye with our children to experience this wonderful atmosphere together.”

“Space Camp Türkiye gave extraordinary support to this idea and opened their doors for our hearing- impaired children for the first time in their history. They were very attentive and our children finished the program with no problems at all. It was worth it to see the sparkle in their eyes. As Istanbul Fenerbahce Rotary Club, we would like to extend our gratitude to Space Camp Türkiye for being with us in every step of the organization and for giving our kids a wonderful camp experience, one which they will never forget, added Civelek.”
