GICC Conference Introduced Izmir to the World
 
The attempts made by ESBAŞ and the supports provided by İZKA broke the records with participation of 400 individuals from 40 different countries in GICC conference that was held between May 20^th and 23^rd, 2012, in I    zmir. The President of the Conference Organizing Committee and the member of GOCA Board of Directors, Dov Hyman, indicated that the greatest participation in the history of GICC Conferences was in Izmir and that the majority of the participants had attended the conference along with their spouses. 
 
Dov Hyman said "the level was highly raised with Izmir conference. It will be really challenging to provide a quality as with Izmir in the future conferences to be held in other places. All of the participants were amazed with Aegean Free Zone, Izmir and Efes antique city. It is impossible to forget about the Turkish cuisine and hospitality. Many participants have been indicating that they will come back to visit Izmir and the surrounding area soon. We appreciate ESBAŞ for perfect collaboration and İZKA for hosting the unforgettable dinner in Efes."
 
Lockheed Martin with 21 participants was the company with the greatest number of participants in the conference. Millions of dollars worth of projects were negotiated while steps for new collaborations were taken during the conference breaks. Honorable Murat Bayar, the SSM Undersecretary, was the star of the conference. He presented comprehensive information regarding the Turkish aviation and defense industry developments by providing responds to all questions during both the press conference and the presentation. In the conference that signs of new investments in Izmir were evident, the authorities from the foreign companies tried to catch a chance to meet and talk with the team of experts in SSM.
 
The ladies showed great interest in the social programs that were organized for spouses of the conference participants. They not only got a chance to take a tour of the city, but also to shop and to visit the Space Cam Türkiye in the context of another program.
 
In the auction that was held by Kaya and Mary Tuncer during the conference for benefit of Global Friendship Through Space Education Foundation, a two way ticket to the European countries for two was purchased at USD 5,600 by Angela Hymes and the money was delivered to Mary Tuncer so that it could be used to help children with insufficient financial condition.
 
Ayhan İzmirli, who managed and coordinated the works in organizing the conference on behalf of ESBAŞ, received many thanks and congratulations from participants. The President of ESBAŞ, Mary Tuncer, in a disclosure indicated that they have been thinking about organizing an international conference with regard to the Civil Offset and that she will negotiate this subject in the first meeting of the Board of Directors.
