Members of the French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS) visited ESBAS and the Turkish Aerospace Clustering Association (HUKD) on February 28. HUKD members accompanied the French delegation of 12 company representatives, who provide input to different areas of the industry and were visiting Türkiye to improve relations between France and Türkiye.  

The delegation came to Izmir for the Turkish-French Defense and Aerospace Industry Day and cooperation meetings, held Feb. 25-27. These were co-sponsored by the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, Defense Aerospace Industry Manufacturers Association and Defense Industry Exporters’ Association. The French delegation also received comprehensive information about the Aegean Free Zone and HUKD during their visit to ESBAS.

As part of their tour of the Zone, Mr. Bernard Espannet, GIFAS SME's Group Director, and Thilo Schonfeld, International Relations Deputy Manager of primary aerospace cluster, Aerospace Valley, made a special stop at FTB-Lisi Aerospace company. Lisi is a French user company in the Zone and also a member of GIFAS. 

Members of the delegation remarked that aerospace appears to be the fastest growing industry in the Aegean Free Zone. The delegation left the Zone with positive impressions after expressing their compliments to ESBAS and HUKD for their contributions to the industry.
