ESBAŞ RECOGNIZED AS TURKEY’S BEST EMPLOYER WITH ITS 30 YEAR-OLD CULTURE

Great Place to Work (GPTW), which selects the best workplaces in the world each year, surveyed over 101 thousand employees from 192 companies to assess their satisfaction with their companies. Based on these surveys, GPTW gives ESBAŞ “Turkey’s Best Employer” and “Aegean Region’s Best Employer in Its Industry” award in the category of companies with “500-2000 employees” for having an employee oriented management model and a corporate culture blended with human touch.

 

GPTW selects Turkey’s best employers based on their analyses across five dimensions, which are credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.  Focusing on people management practices and assessments of the employees, this research awards companies based on the number of employees: 20-50, 50-250, 250-500, 500-2000 and over 2000.

”30 YEARS OF ESBAŞ VALUES”

Reflecting on the GPTW award for “Turkey’s Best Employer”, ESBAŞ Chief Executive Officer Dr. Faruk Güler said, “This is our reward for implementing the ESBAŞ values in total confidence and under all circumstances for 30 years”. Emphasizing that they are proud to have received such a significant award in an environment where even the global scale companies are suspending their works due to the pandemic, Dr. Güler said, “The fact that ESBAŞ was awarded as Turkey’s Best Employer by Great Place to Work in 2020 proves that we have the capability to take a new step every day on the path to excellence even in times of difficulty”.

A BIRTHDAY GIFT TO ESBAŞ FOUNDER, KAYA TUNCER

Reminding that it is also the birthday of ESBAŞ’s late founder Kaya Tuncer, Dr. Güler said, “Kaya Bey, who initiated the building blocks of our company culture by determining our values and put them into practice throughout his life, would have been 83 years old today. He may have left us physically, but he is still and will always be among us with his works. I would like to dedicate this award to his memory, and remember him with respect and gratitude as we do everyday. We owe a special thanks to our Chairperson of the Board, Mary Tuncer, for providing all kinds of support to sustain this culture. It would have been difficult for us to obtain this result had it not been for the persistency of Mary Hanım to keep the ESBAŞ culture alive. I would also like to extend our thanks to all of our shareholders and members of the Board of Directors for their continued support”.

A COMPANY OF HAPPY EMPLOYEES

Dr. Faruk Güler also reminded that ESBAŞ had received Turkey’s Excellence Award in 2017, and said, “We build our philosophy of excellence upon the foundation of our values, ‘Courage, Perseverance, Integrity, Commitment, Innovation and Respect’. The success of our Human Resources policy, which is intertwined with our philosophy of creating ‘happy employees at ESBAŞ’, has refined our perspective.” Emphasizing that the culture of ESBAŞ, which is based upon its values and its Human Resources policy, has unveiled the people of ESBAŞ who are committed to their work, who put their heart and soul into what they do and who take ownership of their jobs, Dr. Güler said “I have no doubt that this choice of Great Place to Work is an output of the ESBAŞ culture. I would like to thank all of you, the employees of ESBAŞ, for supporting the formation of the ESBAŞ culture for 30 years. Cultures can only be sustained if they are kept alive. I would like to congratulate and thank all of you, my colleagues, for embracing and sustaining this culture”.

GPTW measures excellence by conducting research on the Works of different companies for building and developing the best workplaces in more than 60 countries in 5 continents. Particularly analyzing the sustainability of the “High-Trust” Culture at companies, GPTW audits the employers who meet these criteria, and certifies those going above and beyond a certain score.

GPTW awards are celebrated every year in an award ceremony held in Istanbul with participation of the companies and their employees. This year, the nominees attended a virtual ceremony which was held online due to the pandemic. A group of ESBAŞ employees gathered in observation of the social distance rules, wore their Space Camp Turkey overalls, and waited to hear the results in great excitement and enthusiasm. Following the announcement of the award, Dr. Faruk Güler spoke to the employees via live videoconference call and congratulated all ESBAŞ employees for the award.
