ESBAS is now a part of the National Quality Movement which is carried out under the leadership of Turkish Quality Association – KalDer.

The National Quality Movement, carried out under the leadership of the Turkish Quality Association – KalDer, now has the participation of many of Türkiye’s leading organizations. Now ESBAS has also joined the National Quality Movement. Initiated by KalDer in 1998 to create and develop the national awareness on “quality” and to make the Excellence Model practices more widespread, the National Quality Movement has grown even stronger with the addition of ESBAS.

The Good Will Declaration Signing Ceremony took place at the ESBAS Technology Center Conference Hall on October 3rd 2012 attended by ESBAS Chairman of the Board Mary Tuncer and KalDer Chairman of the Board A. Hamdi Dogan.

In her speech at the ceremony, ESBAS Chairman of the Board Mary Tuncer stated that relations between ESBAS and the Turkish Quality Association date back to 10 years ago and ESBAS has been cooperating with KALDER since then in several events and volunteer activities. Mary Tuncer expressed that ESBAS is the first free zone in the world to implement four quality systems, and added, “ESBAS is proud to set an example to all other free zones in the world with its excellence model activities.” Tuncer expressed that 20,300 people are employed in 225 companies operating at the Aegean Free Zone, and said, “We joined the National Quality Movement and signed the Good Will Declaration as a further step in search of excellence. I am sure Kaya Tuncer, my husband and founder of ESBAS, would be proud if he were alive. He always wanted us to provide quality services in all of our activities.”

A. Hamdi Dogan highlighted that, through the Excellence Model, ESBAS will contribute to the management structure, business strategies and business cooperation and partnerships, and added that this model is used in Europe and many other countries in the world. He said KalDer has many national cooperation partners and that the organizations “self-evaluate” using the EFQM Model of the European Quality Management Foundation in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses and to periodically measure their progress.

KalDer Chairman of the Board A. Hamdi Dogan said, “ESBAS started its journey of excellence a long time ago. ESBAS has made a excellent progress in their journey on social contribution, efficient use of areas, respect to environment and waste recycling, and crowned this success with this signature. Organizations will fall behind if they do not raise the level of their management quality.  ESBAS should act as a parasol and set an example to other companies as well. There is an award waiting at the end of this journey, but this award should be the means and not the goal.”

“Through self-evaluation, organizations find the opportunity to see their present condition and to raise their management quality. Every person and organization - from holdings to SMEs, manufacturers to service providers, education to health and other public services, local governments and NGOs – has a responsibility. Activities with results that have direct effects on human life will be one of our greatest contributions. As the use of the Excellence Model becomes more widespread, more institutions will become entities for continuous learning and development, thus paving the way for a stronger future for Türkiye,” said Dogan.
