ESBAS, with 350 professional employees on site, is responsible for the foundation and operation of the Aegean Free Zone which is home to 240 companies and 15000 workers.
The core operating mission of ESBAS is to "partner" with its user companies; serve their basic needs efficiently and in good spirit; and to provide a cost-efficient, worry-free environment in which all the Zone companies can pursue their own business objectives successfully.
ESBAS is the only Turkish Free Zone Development and Operating Company to be awarded with 4 quality certificates: ISO 9001/2000 Quality Management System Certificate, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard, OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, and ISO 22000/2005 Food Safety Management Systems Certificates. This achievement is reflective of the Company's commitment to maintaining the best work environment possible for its employees, and to providing the highest quality standards for the User Companies in the Zone, which in return directs the preferences of other candidate companies towards the Aegean Free Zone.
The Chairman of ESBAS is Mr. Kaya Tuncer, a Turkish-American, born in Turkey, educated at Berkeley and USC in California. Mr. Tuncer is a highly regarded entrepreneur and mega-builder, who founded ESBAS in 1990 and continues to play a hands-on role in its daily operations.
In 2001, Mr. Tuncer was honored as one of the 10 top business people in Turkey; in 2004 he received the prestigious Ellis Island Award for his contributions to world peace with "Global Friendship Through Space Education Foundation". Mr. Tuncer is also the recipient of the English Financial Times Group' s magazine, FDI-Foreign Direct Investment Magazine Personality of the Year 2005 Award for his endeavors to attract foreign direct investments into our country. Kaya Tuncer has been selected as a member to the Board of Directors of ATS- The American Turkish Society.
